Electricity Interruption Supply

Electricity Interruption Supply

Madibeng Local Municipality would like to inform residents, industries and consumers in general about the decision by power supplier Eskom to proceed with the disconnection of bulk supply of electricity to Madibeng Local Municipality planned from 18 January 2017.

The affected areas include Brits town and Industrial area, Letlhabile, Oukasie, Damonsville, Elandsrand and Primindia.

The imminent disconnection comes as a result of the debt by municipality to Eskom which is caused mainly by non payment of services by consumers for service rendered as well as illegal connections of electricity.

Non payment of services by consumers puts municipality under a serious financial strain and which makes it difficult for the municipality to can pay for bulk services.

A call is hereby made to all consumers with arrears to immediately settle their debts to avoid disconnection by the municipality.

Consumers who would like to enter into settlement agreement with the municipality are urged to do so immediately to avoid disconnection.

Consumers can visit the Revenue Division at the main municipal offices in Brits.

The municipality will as well disconnect electricity supply to all areas with illegal connections as per the resolution taken by Council recently.

In the midst of this problem of non payment of services and illegal connections of electricity, the municipality would like to acknowledge the fact that there are consumers who have been paying their monthly bills consistently and would therefore wish to thank them as such assists the municipality to be able to render quality  services.
